Luggage rack interchangability KZ1000

Hi,

I found a used luggage rack/sissy bar for sale that is from a 1982 KZ1000 LTD. I am wondering if anyone here knows whether this will directly fit my 1977 KZ1000 LTD?

Thanks, John

John, You probably won't find the answer you are looking for. There were quite a few companies making racks for bikes back in the 70s and 80s... none of them are around anymore that I know of...

How adaptable YOUR rack is depends on who made it. When I want to buy a luggage rack, I buy a K&G which was the MOST adaptable. I found one off a CB900 and installed it on my KZ1000E1. The front mount actually is on a bar that fits inside the rear part so you can pull it out to the correct length to catch the shock mount. Whether your rack will work or not depends on what type rack you have as it may or may not adjust.

John,

I also picked up a KG off of EBay. It doesn't look like the same one you are looking at. My luggage rack looks bigger. But it does have the adjustable bars, and it looks like the one you are looking at has the same setup.

Mine was advertised as coming off of a KZ900. I was a bit of a tight fit around the turn signal stems, but I was able to get it mounted.

FYI, I paid $35 + $15 to ship.
