sport bike swingarm

I have a 1982 kz750, and I really love the bikes i see with the newer sport bike swingarms. I have been looking through the archives and have got many ideas, but I have many unanswered questions.
I have been searching around and have found many newer model gixxer swingarms. Can these be easily modded to fit. Fitting either a monoshock, or dual shocks shouldnt be a problem.
One of my major questions is what would you do with the front sprocket so that it would work with the wider rear wheel?

I just finished (last night) putting a 99 GSX600F (Katana) front end on my 80 KZ750E, and am now working on the swing arm. The 99 GSX600F has a steel boxed swing arm, and it's about 4" longer than stock. I didn't want all that extra length, and I'd rather shed some weight, so I'm using an aluminum swing arm off a 83 GPz70, it's about 1 1/2"-2" longer than a KZ750E swing arm, and the axle is the same size as a GSX600F so I can still use the 4 1/2" wheel.

I'll probably get back to work on it in a couple of days.

Oh yeah, I'm sticking with dual shocks.

Offset engine sproket will do the trick.

has anybody ever tried this using a newer gsxr swingarm?

Regarding offset sprockets, you can use the JT sprockets chart to find a spline that matches your bike's and hopefully an offset that will give you the clearance required

ape and kosman make offset sprockets.make sure to check the swingarm pivot tube as to inside diameter and length.you might have to get a fabricator to build you a new pivot tube to make the conversion.i've seen several done and if done right they look cool and are safe.i am fixing to put a zuke wheel under my z1r.but i am custom building my swingarm out of chromoly,and building my own pivot tube and re-using the axle plates and axle's off of the zuke.another crazy thing we do is turn the center out of one sprocket and turn the outside off of another sprocket and build spacers and weld em all back together to create are own offset sprockets.having my own fab shop helps tho.
