Hi, I just put a new chain on my 1981 kz1000m bike. How much tension should i have in the chain. Thanks To All Jeff

You measure tension by taking the chain in the center, between the front and rear sprocket, the part where the chain has a belly hanging to the floor and there should be a half of an inch of movement.

1979 KZ SR650, stock candy persimmon red and crossover pipes
1981 KZ 1000LTD with non stock and more comfortable handle bars and 4 into one V&H

If you didn't replace the sprockets, or if you did for that matter, with the bike on the center stand turn the rear tire till the chain is at it's tightest position and do the adjusting at that point.
Ride safe.

78 650-C2, Stock engine, Jardine 4-2 Exh., 17-38 sprockets, dyna ignition and coils, coil wiring mod, carb mod.
