Info for my chop
15 Jun 2007 11:46
I am starting a custom job on my 78 650SR D. I would like to get about 10-15 deg. and 4"-6" longer forks, a full chrome rear fender with modified brake light and turn signals, possible hard tail conversion/lowering, a single saddle seat and forward foot controls. Anyone who has done any of this or knows about it, please fill me in. All help is much appreciated.

Nice try, but I want to see it before it was stripped.

I just finished exactly what you described, with the addition to putting a 16 inch 130 on the rear. The bike looks pretty good, a little heavy in the middle, so I would like to change the tank. Last issue for me is modifying the pipes. I saw a couple of threads on it, but nothing really specific.
Back to you and yours, I went with ten degrees on the triple, a local shop did it for $250.00, and 5 inches extra on the forks, chromed out everything I could, and blacked out the engine, all lights modified with parts from a salvage yard.
Biggest hurdle is when you add length to the front, none of the cables or hoses fit, some trial and error, some custome work, and a lot of catalogs and you will find the parts.

Hey good luck with the project. I am doing some of what you want except I am not raking the frame at all. Below is a picture of where my frame is currently at. It is a 79' KZ650
