I in the market for my first KZ. What year is recommended for simplicity to mods, such as, wide tire conversion(240+), raked and lowered. I have noticed some from 1970's to the 80's and even police issued 80-90 models years. What do you guys think?

It's only my opinion but if your going to be modifying it with a (240+) rear tire, raked and lower. I would go with an 82-05 KZ1000 Police bike. It is basically a cruiser with a killer engine!

But can you use swingarms and other parts from places such as PMFR and other sites. I want this to be an easy build. My last build was a zx12R with a 300mm rear and it was a pain. I had to fab everything. Now you can buy everything but I had did that build almost 3 years ago. And with the police crusiers, they have runing boards instead of pegs and no rear fenders. How hard would it be to put those items on.

If you have built a zx12 with a wide tire mod than you certainly know that any wide tire mod/rake and lower is not easy. When it comes to KZ`s I think money spent on motor mods are more important than trying to do the tire mod first, After all you need a bit of power to spin that back tire anyway.

The engine was not going to be left alone. I just thought a simple call to APE would take care of that and maybe some forced induction. Maybe add this Rotrex supercharger I have sitting in the garage to be a little different. Or a roots type.
I was just worried about the cosmetics and other upgrades. I want this to as simple as possible.
