I had posted pics from my first KZ650 trying to ID the seat. I came across this today on ebay and it is described as a KZ650 SR. Is that what this is?

The seat pan may be from a 650SR, but the seat cover is an aftermarket item.

That looks nothing like my SR seat, top or bottom picture.
The SR seat Kawasaki put on the bike was flat, with a strap about 2/3 of the way back. There's a locking latch mechanism, and hinges. This seat has neither. If it came off an SR, it wasn't Kawasaki that put it there in the first place!
Here is a nice picture of a mostly-stock SR with the original seat. The seat in the picture has seen some miles (it's been deformed slightly from the rider's legs), but it's definitely one of the cleanest you'll find and it's representative of the stock seat.
Here is a stock '79 with the same seat.

If you enlarge the picture you can see where the hinges and latch have been removed, plus part of the underseat sticker, so it's a possibility that it is an SR seat pan, and almost certainly a Kawasaki seat pan. But not a Kawasaki seat cover
It's fairly common to see stock seats with the hinges and latch removed being sold on eBay, I have bought two that way.
