front end swap? was created by crash
Any of you guys have info on what modern sport bike front end is the easiest swap on to my 82 kz 1000j.Looking to give the bike a streetfighter make over and improve handling and braking. Maybe even shed a few pounds. Lighter is faster amd as we all know faster is better! crash

I don't know if you're looking for USD or convential or what but give the "Search" function a try. There are quite a few bike on here with front end swaps. Most use Zx7/9 or Gsxr front end. There are no true bolt on and ride setups that I know of.

The zrx front end and triple tree will install onto your J. No bearing changes required. The only issue i had was with the ignition switch and steering lock tab on the frame. I have an 82J and an 82 gpz 1100 and the zrx front end is installed on the gpz1100 right now. Get the complete front end including the wheel and calipers. Mix and matching from different models is a pain and will cost you more $$. I've tried doing it cheap and it isn't worth the extra grief.

This is the 82J with a zr-7 rear swingarm/wheel installed. Front end is stock J with 84 zx900 wheel/rotors. The rotors are larger than the regular J and required the use of 82 gpz1100 fork lowers to raise the calipers. The gpz lower leg is identical to the J except for the caliper mounting position.

crash,

Try searching for
"fork swap"
"front swap"

Those brought up some good results.

ZRX1100/1200 frontend and swingarm are a relatively simple swap for 81-82 GPZ1100 or 81-83 1000J.
