FLAT: tube or no tube.

I got a flat tire. I thought it was a tubed tire, but now am not so sure. Says right on the tire "Tubeless:on tube type rim fit tube". What does that mean???

I Filled it with an air compressor and air was hissing out from the rim lock nuts. Tried some of that fix a flat stuff with no success. Tire is a Dunlop Elite II with only about 4,000 miles on it.

On a rim designed for tube type tires, a tube must be installed. The tubeless tire will work in either situation, but a tube type tire will not.

I suspect you have a tube as the air is coming out between it and the tire and escaping through the rim locks.

I have never seen a tubeless rim with rim locks, anyone else ever see one?

If your rim has rim locks, then it's a safe bet that it has a tube.

And you need a new one

which bike? if its a spoke wheel tube only, if its the mag type, it will say on the rim tubeless, but you can run a tube in it if you want

If you have rim locks, there's a tube in there. That's what they are for.

I just went through that myself. Was leaking around the nuts holding the valve stem to the rim. Turns out there was a tube in there even though my tires said tubeless. Of course they didnt have any tires in stock and neither did anyone else I called so I had to have a new tube put into my crappy old tire, cost me about $55. On the plus side he didnt put a scratch in my Lester Mag
