does anyone know what size socket do i need to use to remove the front sprocket on a 79 sr650?

Metric size bolt of course but a 1 1/16 socket will do the trick.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I forgot what I used but I think I used a 22mm? I am not sure but it is close

1979 KZ SR650, stock candy persimmon red and crossover pipes
1981 KZ 1000LTD with non stock and more comfortable handle bars and 4 into one V&H

I recall a 1 1/16" six point impact socket fitting mine perfectly. The I did a '78 SR this spring and it took a 1 5/16" (32 mm) so I'm not sure if that nut was changed out or just what.

Thats right, 32mm, the largest metric socket I have. Sorry about the misinfo!

I use a 1 1/16, fits perfect. Also fits my ninja. Which is lucky because it's one of 2 odd large sockets I bought for some long forgotten project, nothing else I own is close to being big enough!

since i have never been one to use small amounts of c4, i figured id hook the chain back up and tighten everything back, than have my 8 y.o. stand on the brke while i put some muscle on the nut. worked just fine. another bonehead mistake ill not make again....if i remember.......lol
