My '79 650 SR sprocket nut is 1 1/16", but on the '78 SR project bike it's 1 5/16 or 32mm. Must have gotten changed somewhere along the line!
I did get the nut loose without the rear wheel on. I ran a bar under the frame and clamped the chain with a heavy Vise-grip to hold the chain and the bar. Then I hit the nut with the impact and it spun right off.
