Drag bars.. What do I want to buy? was created by AR15Ron
Looking for some measurements or links to some drag bars. I have to change my handlebar controls and steering bearings so it seems now would be a great time to change handlebars. Any suggestions? I don't want to be uncomfortable and looks are important.

I can't remember how long mine are but make sure you get a set of throttle cables from a Z1R. The stoc cables are too long.

If you are not doing rear sets, you might consider the low "superbike" bends. The Flanders euro, superbike and daytona bars are all nearly as low as a drag bar, but have a bit of a rise. More comfy, plus much less chance of controls contacting your tank. The Dennis Kirk online catalog gives very specific pullback and rise info.

Helpful hint....DO NOT get the straight-across "broom-handle" drag bars. "Most" drag bars will have a slight rearward bend. Believe it or not.....makes ALL the difference in the world as far as leverage and comfort go.
I went with superbike bars (ditched the clubmans after a lo-speed fall down) and even with the rearsets (05 zX6), ride position is not uncommfy on this aching 47 yr old back.:pinch:
Let us know what u decide.......

I was actually looking at superbike bars, I think that's what I'm probably gonna go with. I was a little concerned about comfort but I love the way they look. Still deciding if I'm actually gonna do it or not :)

i was also thinking of going with the straight drag bars but dont think the back can handle it. but looking at this bar as an option on e-bay kinda cool.

go with the superbike bars, i bought mine off of ebay for 20$ =shipping

they have 1 1/2 lift and 2 and 1/2 pullback and are 28 overall width, they are comfortable for me but i'm still young.

they also give better control over the bike than that baby apes that were on it, it also feels much more badass ;)

i'd suggest european bars. install them rightside up for long distance touring...or upside down for sunday afternoon rides if you want the bike to look a little cafe.

euro bars and superbike bars are very similar...this is a pic of a kz550 (on the left) with euro bars upside down, and a kz1000 with superbike bars rightside up:

i've got some adjustable clubman bars that look really cool B)... but the riding position just seems impractical, not only for the lower back and also leverage in controlling the bike.

what can i say....i guess i'm just getting too old. :P ;)
