Fitting mag front wheel on my 77 kz650, Rotor confusion

Hi, I just got a mag front rim to replace the spoke wheels. I think the wheel came off of a 79 kz750. Now I am having trouble finding a rotor to use on my bike. Mine originally had a 4 bolt rotor that measured somewhere in the 11.75 range. The mag rim needs a 7 bolt rotor. The only ones I have been able to find are 10.25". So my pads are not gonna contact all of the rotor.

Anyone have any wise words of wisdom to share? I really wanna get this put on but I'm really not sure about which rotor to use.

Heres a pic of the front rim.

Replied by RetroRiceRocketRider on topic Fitting mag front wheel on my 77 kz650, Rotor confusion
All of the earlier 650's had 4-bolt rotors, and I believe the latter 650's had the same.
But I have absolutely no clue as to which KZ (if it actually was from a KZ) that wheel came from.

Well...I just entered the 79 KZ750 in My cross-ref program,to see what other bikes would have that same rim,and if You look at the results...that rim is NOT from a 79 KZ750(B4),because My bike(77 KZ1000 A1) is in the list as well, and I KNOW that My bike did NOT come with a 7 bolt rotor.B)

Not sure WHAT that rim is from...Anyone else?

That wheel is from a 1980 or later KZ750 (four cylinder model), and you have more problems than just finding a rotor. Have you compared the diameters of the axle?

What you need is a KZ650 or 1000 front wheel from a 1979 or earlier, 1980 might work also, I'm not sure.
76-80 KZ750 twin front wheel will work also, if you can find one that had the Morris Mags on it.

Edit:
I should have looked at the list Sandy posted, that tells you exactly what wheels will fit :D
The list does leave out the 1980 KZ750G twin, and I know for a fact that wheel will fit, and it's a mag wheel.
It also leaves out the KZ650D models, that wheel will work also, and it's 2.15" wide vs the standard 1.85" wheel.

There is a kz 650 being parted out on eBay now that has a similar set of disks. I sold a set of similar rotors to ran429 a couple of years ago for his 650. Roy

Yeah, I think 81 or 82 KZ650 went to that style also.

Nope, don't sleep with the manuals, but I researched all the wheels that would fit my 750 twin, and found that all the 70's 650/750/1000 front wheels will interchange, but only the 1000 rear will fit on the 750 twin :)

And now I have a 1980 KZ750E sitting on my front porch with that style wheels on it.

I have "got" to stop working so many hours so I can get a bike running, it's killing me not to be able to ride.

What area you in kxhonda?

I've got a set, 19' front and 18' back, of rims from my '79 650C3 collecting dust, but shipping would be a killer.

You close to Toronto ON, Canada?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I bought a motor and the guy threw in these rims. He thought they were from a 77-79 Kz650, but after reading this I realized that the front rim has 6 bolts and the rear has 7. Anyone know what these a from. I was going to put a dual disk on my 79 Kz650, but maybe not with this set up. If anyone wants these, let me know....
