That's a damned good question. :blink:
I've got a '78 C1A that's about as original as they get, and I'm not sure even I have one, and I was fiddling around in that neighborhood the other day. :lol:
Overall, the BuyKaw...com drawings tend to be pretty accurate; they're showing a bend at the front of the part, and flat at the rear by the holes.
Just a guess, but I'd think at some time in the past, some mook figured it'd work better with an *aftermarket* mod to the part - who knows why.
Might be worth a few minutes spent re-assembling the various bits and see if you can figure out why that bend is there in the first place...
