What if any are the fork diferences from a CSR to a late 70's model kz? If looks to me from pictures that the forks seem to be a bit longer. Does this sound right?

If they are longer, what are my best options for replacement forks to bring the bike into a more cafe racer-esque stance? Would it be possible to switch fork legs and not triples? Are the legs the same size on older kz's? And if I go with older legs will I need the wheel also?

Another thing I thought about is would it be better to swap a larger displacement bike front end, or are the legs similar from 650 up?

I'm pretty sure all 650 fork tubes are 36mm in diameter. Some of the earlier 1000's were also this size.

I think the 550's are a smaller diameter, but I will have to RTFM tonight to make sure.

Looks like you might could use that crossreference at the Kaw website. Go to the owner info link and hover, click on the pats diagram. Play around a bit or give them a call and they can tell you how to use it.

It's got something to do with the parts tab. If you look at my last topic someone explained how to use it from there....

It will tell you all the other bikes that use the same forks yours does. I just hope you don't get disappointed like I did.

kawasaki's are like chevrolets lots of things interchange, fork tubes came in two diameters 34mm and 36mm and many different lenths, my 78 650SR has 76 KH500 fork tubes, this dropped the front end 5in,my 750 twin has 84 KZ700 fork tubes this raised the front 4in, the twin also has the 84 swingarm at 1in longer and 12 in shocks dropping it 2in, I have a 75 H1 500 with a 79 KZ650 swingarm and disc brake, this bike also has mags and dual disc front and a Z1 900 tank, almost all this took no mods just swap(the tank took some mod)

Do you have any idea which forks would be the best to drop the front of a csr to a more cafe-esque stance? Looks like the 500 forks would be my best bet. Do you know any other models with comprable fork length? I'm looking to get it more into the realm of a Triuph Thruxton which shares almost identical rake and trail numbers just much different fork length.
