Encouragement needed for project!
07 Apr 2007 10:41
Hey everybody. I have been restoring classic cars since I was in seventh grade, but have never "totally" restored a motorcycle. I have a 79 KZ750 twin, that I want to completely dissassemble and restore. I have repainted several cars, and a few bikes. I need some encouragement that I shold do it! It will be a bit of an undertaking and don't want to go to long without a bike that is rideable! I really have no excuse, because I have another bike that is the same year, so if I get forgetful on how something goes back on, I can just look at the other one. The bike will be a purple metalic that is lighter than the stock color, and I want the frame painted to match the tank... Here is the bike, and there are more pics. in the gallery of 750twins. Whatcha all think?

Here are two members bikes that are my inspiration. The blue one is the right idea, and the purple one is the color.

By all means jump in. You have nothing to lose but sanity and $$$$$$$$.:woohoo: ![;) ;)](/media/kunena/emoticons/11.png)
If you have the time and space, why not?? You'll feel alot better knowing that YOU did it when you are finished. Besides, lots of free info, help, and advise is right here... Go for it.

Go for it, I like the matching frame. If you've done some cars this should be a snap. Get a shop manual and jump in.

The best (well, maybe not the BEST) part of tearing into an old Kaw is
this website
Go through the menus until you've got your bike, then click [parts diagrams]. ShaZAMMMM!!!!
All the pictures you need to get it back together! In all the projects I have done, Kawasaki is the only one do give me this kind of detailed information! So, be brave and of good cheer!

Thanks guys... I bought a quart of paint yesterday, and I am having second thoughts on the color... I painted my first car, a 68 Mustang Fastback, this color. Now I am wondering if it looks too pink or something. Colors are sometimes the hardest part.

Buy another bike. You won't want to be without a ride.
OR
Collect all your parts now and start in the late fall.
