Thanks Vipex. It seems I have waded into the deep end of the pool. Conceptually it sounds great- but being a simple "sales" guy I know my limitations. A Clymer manual is on the way.

Two questions:

1. Where can I find a wench to adjust the lower end on my current shock?

2. Do people experiment with tire pressure front and back to achieve desired handling characteristics?

Lastly- as a proud new owner- I'll get a photo up as soon as I can.

To adjust the shock lower, you can use a channel-lock set of pliers, with a rag around the shock to protect the chrome.

There is a tool that comes in most of the stock tool kits, that has a handle with a circular 90 degree arch with a projection on the end, and that is supposed to work.

How true.

However, in accordance with The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, I refrain from photogenically making a mockery of the proceedings anywhere but in Chit-Chat, no matter how much Wireman may beg me to do it, which is believe me, a minute-by-minute occurrence via PM... ;)

And though I ain't a patch on Gris' clam-diggers with the turn of a phrase, sometimes it's fun to drop in and make a mess of the English Langooage... :woohoo:

Well vipex, that might be your opinion, or maybe you are just trying to sell your expensive shocks. While I don't object to you posting your thoughts on the subject, I do object to you not clearly indicating in your post that you are expressing an opinion from a position of economic self interest.

Vipex "can't" say anything about his business in his postings, because if he does then I am required to delete it and send him a PM reminding him of the rules. He does appear to be making an effort to comply, and I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't attempt to goad him into violating the rules.

The remote reservoir has nothing to do with damping characteristics, it's purpose is to provide cooling and additional oil capacity to delay or prevent shock fade due to overheating of the oil.

Works Performance sells some great shocks if you have the $$$, ~$400 for non-piggyback and ~$600 for piggy-back, and they set them up for your weight and riding style.

Wireman,

Are you asking where Skips OEM shocks are built? Who knows....but anyones best guess would be a supplier in Japan - if not - in house at Kawi.

If you asking me where our product is made that is on the edge of me promoting something....that will get our tech mderators attention - nice try..ask me in a PM and will provide you with all the info you need.

If you need tech help doing those tasks PM me. I would be happy to help.

On a similar note I woul like to offer a suggestion to the site to benefit all members - this would probably be focused towards our site admin and the tech moderator.

Here is my suggestion. It would be agreed that there are some extremely talented techs here capable of any mechanical/fabrication task with out any tech resource. There are others that need help. If there is enough band width here then maybe we could post a link to complete shop manuals to some of the more popular factory shop manuals. i am not an originator of this idea so i cannot take credit for it. Please take a look at this link from a honda site that has done just that. As you need a chapter you print it off and if you spill something on it - no big deal just throw it away and print another. It would require those of you owning shop manuals to scan them and post the chapters. Take a look at the link and chime in with your comments. You may have to cut and paste the link and/or register at the site to view the tech. documents (shop manuals) Its a fair bit of work but well worth it.

Thank you for that.....and not to worry, the line in the sand is there and I cant be pushed over it....:P

Your tech comment is precisely correct regarding the fade capabilities of a piggyback shock offering superior fade resistance.
