I finally had a chance to grease up the bearings and mount the GSXR front end for real today. I kept going and got the wheel and brakes mounted up then the clipons with switch gear and controls - and that's where I've run into a problem. The GSXR clipons are too short to use the overly large GPZ switches, leaving me only about 4 1/2" for grips. I haven't trimmed a set of grips yet, just seems too short. I do remember some older Brit bike grips being 4 1/2" but I've gotten used to the 5" grips.
Does a 4 1/2" grip on a clipon seem safe? Maybe long barends will give me psychological peace of mind, but I was planning on using bar end mirrors.
