Hi All...

i posted a few days back (and a couple of times) about my bent forks on a 1978 KZ400...

i got my hands on a set of forks from a KZ440 (not sure of the year)...

took a little doing, but was able to get them apart (the top cap one one was rusted!!!)...

well, the inner tubes of the KZ440 forks are ~3.5 cm
longer then the ones (bent ones) i'm replacing...

a part of me thinks that this should not be a MAJOR problem.... though it will certainly through off the weight distribution of the bike (i.e., front end higher = more weight on back???)...... ???

also, wonder if i could simply install the forks so they sit ~3.5 cms higher inside the steering heads....

anyway,...

thoughts...

suggestions...

advice???

punishments for having these thoughts???

:)

thanks...

i say OK. don't really see a problem. i lowered all my 400's by sliding the tubes up till they hit the handlebars.
heck lets put a picture

OH!

curious....

my plan is to use the inner pipes from the KZ440 (replacement part) and the lower pipes (which i had previous cleaned up/painted OH SO NICE!) from the KZ400...

i have not yet done a direction comparison, but on the surface, everything seems the same...

if the springs from the KZ440 are longer than the springs from the KZ400 (the bike i'm restoring), i assume i should use the KZ440 springs (i.e., they would properly "fill" the tube), right?

yea, i'd think if you are using the longer tubes, use the longer springs.
