Repairing puncture in rear tire
28 Feb 2007 16:01
Somehow managed to get a small nail and a large staple in my tire, right next to each other. Needless to say, my tire doesn't hold air anymore. Its still in good shape otherwise, though, and i'd hate to throw it away and have to buy another.
Is there any feasible way to repair the tire? It's a 1980 KZ750 twin, 130/90 16".
Thanks

you didnt say if it was a tubeless, or not, I would put a tube in it either way,
I would not ever try to patch a tire or tube on a bike, my butt would not let me do it since it might be hitting the ground

It should have a tube in it since the 1980 KZ750G twin has tube type mags.
I think tubes are less than $10, so I'd just put a new tube in it.

Yep.
But inspect the tire from the inside. You don't want to see any tearing or missing rubber. Also, look for cracking inside the tire while it's off. It's always good to use these opportunities to look at stuff that you can't usually see. Never know what you'll find...

When in doubt, replace the tire for safety reasons.
