I want to lower the beater in conjunction with the rebuild and customization that I have undertaken.

If I understand correctly, I just have to move the forks up on the triple tree, and switch out the shocks with HD 883s, and I'm pretty much done?

If anyone has experience with this operation, I would appreciate advice. Thanks!

are you talking a hd part number there for the rear shocks? How far of a drop are you looking for?

I read somewhere else that the Harley Davidson Sportster 883 "hugger" shocks fit on the 82 KZ750 4-cylinder bikes with the effect of lowering the rear end an inch or two. I do not know exactly what a "hugger" is, though. I don't know how to slide the forks up an inch on the triple tree either.

I am lowering the front end of my project KZ750H by swapping in the forks and triple tree from a KZ750E. This lets me get the desired effect without the tops of the fork tubes getting in the way of the cafe bars I plan to install. I will let you guys know haw this works out. At my present rate of progress, it should be around the summer of 2010.

This is what I do for fun, not for work. It is art, with a little engineering thrown in.

not sure of the length of the 750 shock my 78 kz1000 A2 were 14.5 inches i bought a set of mint 85? 550 Honda nighthawk shocks on ebay for 35.00 lowered it a full 2 inches and rides 2 up better than before. 883 hugger is just the name of a stripped down sportster I put 79 XLH (Sportster) shccks on my buddies KZ440 5 years ago he loves it
