get a heavy duty tube, the rim strips are all about the same, never done the duct tape deal, kind of sounds like Red Green stuff to me

ouch!ive got this fiber glass reinforced stuff thats white laying around here somewhere.used it on lots of wheels over the years, never had a problem with a tube getting chewed up by spokes:blush: lots of the newer aftermarket wirewheels are sealed with silicone looking stuff around spoke nipples to protect tubes.ive done as many if not more burn em to the cords burnouts with low air pressure as just about anyone one here and have never lost a tube doing it my way,ive ripped off a few valvestems from not wanting to put screws in my rims but never froma spoke nipple.

The gray stuff doesnt like oil, so if you have any trace of oil coming out of your air compressor there will be trouble for sure

I've compared nearly every tube you can buy and found that Continental tubes are the toughest and highest quality. I've never used their tires, I run their tubes in Michelin tires and I have used them in many different Dunlop tires. Ed KZ650C1

If you want the toughest tubes you can get look for MSR Ultra Heavy Duty Tubes.
They are a little more, but worth it. Preferred by most of the Supermotard guys we sell to... and you won't find a group of guys who are harder on tubes in a spoked wheel than Supermotard racers!
