Yeah, and while we're at it, I bought four 10mm X 1.25 X 30 bolts at the hardware store, and was intending to use them for mounting my rear disc. But I am unfamiliar with metric bolt strength grades. I didn't pay any attention to what was designated on the head of the bolt.
If it were an SAE application, I would probably choose a grade 8 bolt because of it's roll forged threads. What would the equivalent metric bolt grade be?

As far as the grade, I can't imagine it would be anything special considering it's use, certainly something can be found in the metric section at a hardware store.
Now if it were a nut inside the engine, like on a rod, I think you would pay attention to the grade.

Did you know that www.buykawasaki.com has pictures and part number info on what exact size nut is used on your exhaust? It's on the parts list that accompanies the drawings.

I didn't know that, or I wouldn't have posted this, but I do think that 8.8 was the thread pitch, don't quote me on it!

8.8 is the class, and comparable to Grade 5 fasteners. Class 10.9 is comparable to Grade 8.

hey not to bust a bubble, but the stud is was harder than just about any nut you can buy, not to mention it has been heat cycled many times, the cheap way is a thread file, the better way is a die to fix it

Hey fellas, I got the nut for it and the new nut fixed the threads as it went on the stud so I am good now. I guess you can say case closed
