If it's that pasty sticky (like nearly dry gum) stuff take a rag and carb cleaner to it. The carb cleaner is some aggressive stuff so as soon as you get the wheel cleaned a good washing should follow. my .02.

Wellllll, you could go with a simple 2500 psi model.
Or go balls-out and spring for the 3750 psi model to get that stuff that just won't budge for anything! :woohoo:
Actually, I've found that Simple Green works pretty well, is touted as being bio-degradable, and won't trash what you're using it on like some harsher cleaner/degreasers might do.

You can eliminate this problem in the future by not using crap chain lubes that goober up everything. PJ1, Calgard, Chainwax, ect, ect.

I have my own alternative, I use ATF. Plus you might not think it but ATF can clean your rims also, just as good as carb cleaner and once you leave it on the gummed up area it will soak in and remove all gum. I had pics of my chain on here. Gear oil will only put you in more probs, it attracts dirt

I've been using a little WD40 on a cloth. It seems to get the worst goop off. I've also had some luck with degreasers like 409 or Simple Green.
Then, I had (brief) flash of brilliance. I used some car wax on the areas of the rim usually worst covered with goo to prevent the stuff from sticking in the first place, and... it worked reasonably well. It's too bad I never get around to waxing the rims regularly.
