295 lbs wet sounds awful light, especially considering a Zx10 has a dry weight of 375 lbs.
Some rough numbers off the top of my head.
3 gallons of gas = 21 lbs
Battery = 5 lbs
KZ650 motor with carbs 180 lbs
That's 204 lbs, that leaves less than 100 lbs for a steel frame, lights, full suspension/tires/wheel/etc.
Possibly your scale was off?

Regardless of weight, I still wanna see close ups and all of the rear mono set up. I think that SO cleans up the back of the bike.
Whats the swingarm off of? Did the "donor" shock mount NOT have the dog-bone hooya R4 asked about?
Whats the wheels off of? Good lookng, those....I know...lotsa questions! :S
And hats-off on the under tank electrics....nice and clean...![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)

Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not saying anything bad about the bike or the owner, I think that the number was probably mistyped or maybe the scale was off. My guess is that it should say 395 lbs wet, and that is impressive enough

sorry for the typo...should be 395. weighed at the local scrap yard. i can verify if yall need me too. was actually 393.17
which i thought sounded heavy.
the battery weighs 2 lbs and the frame weighed 41 lbs with the cleanup and new shock mount
The frame/swingarm doner was a 1992 yamaha diversion\seca2. no dog bone. the dogbone is only there to make the shock mount lower in the frame.
the electrics are under the fuel tank not the seat. was very simple to wire.
there are still lots of things to do. it will go through a repaint and all the final touches when i install the 900 motor again.

395 lbs is something to be proud of, sheesh, a stock KZ650 weighs in at ~490 lbs wet, and Kawasaki's wicked Zx10 weighs in at over 400 lbs wet :woohoo:

OK, Ill admit it now, I might steal the battery placement idea:P nice work. I thought mine was going to fit in the stock location, but then I switched shocks to be able to put on the hugger fender, and its in the way of the battery now:pinch:

your welcome to copy the battery idea...im sure someone somewhere did before myself. i would dream of claimin rights...but
this is a 900 frame im not sure if a 650 frame is the same.
also thats where your factory coils are mounted.
i moved mine to just under the steering neck.
also the front tank mounts were relocated to the center of the frame tube instead of under it.
i had a goal is why the battery is under the tank...
i wanted the bike to be skeletal...see no wires or battery.
minimal is what i had in mind.
i have a different tank for the bike, large homemade fiberglass tank i got on ebay. heres a pic.

That's awesome Eddieboy!
I took a bunch of stuff off of a 550 and came down to 430 pounds, but not nearly as much stuff as you took off. 395 sounds right considering how much you took off and all the newer parts. Great job!
