KZ550C3 Grab Bar was created by jasenr
Hello all! I have a 1982 LTD 550 (KZ550C3). I am need of a grab bar and have found one on ebay. It is off of a LTD 440. Does anyone know if it will fit? On the Kawasaki parts diagram, the first part of the number is the same, but not the last. Does anyone know if this will fit or should I wait? Thanks!

Hi jasenr and welcome to the board. On Kawasaki parts the first 5 numbers is basically the number that identifies what the part is the 3 or 4 numbers after the dash determines what model that part will fit. There are cases where a number will be superceded to another number and either will work. In the case of your grab rail it is doubtfull if a 440 LTD will fit a 550 LTD. I would say you would be better off to wait and find one off a 550 LTD, there are people parting out 550's all the time it shouldn't be that hard to find the correct one.

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping... Oh well! ;) Wait and see, well, I do have a lot more to do to the bike! It was free, but it had sat for four or five years.

Welcome to KZr jasonr. :)

Confirming if two bikes share the same OEM part number for a particular part is suaully a sure bet.
But being that a good portion of parts are no longer being manufactured for our beloved KZ's, finding something that has the same dimensions, or can be made to fit is sometimes a much easier lion to tame.

Why not just email the seller and ask him/her if they can send you the mounting and length measurements for the grab bar you're inquiring on?

If the measurements on it are considerable diff from what you need, I have a KZ rear grab bar (shown in pic below) which I was told was from a KZ550.
I elongated the front mounting holes slightly and had it on my '78 KZ650 for a while.

It's measurements are:
Spacing between front bolt holes is 12".
Spacing between rear bolt holes is 9 3/8".
Distance from center of front bolt hole to center of rear bolt hole is 9 1/4".
Distance of rear bolt hole to where upward bend begins at rear is 7".
Overall length is approximately 20".

It has some light surface rust and rub marks, but is in otherwise good condition.
$5.00 plus actual shipping cost sound fair?

Shoot me a PM (private message) with your shipping info if you're interested.
