750 GSXR swingarm?
30 Dec 2006 09:56
I have an opportunity to buy a 1990 750 Slingshot GSXR swingarm for my KZ 1000.
I checked the search first and didn't find info. on this particular conversion - anybody done it? I know the GS swingarm deal for KZ's but not this one. Thanks.

Not yet, but I will within about 2 months as I'm putting one on a 'project' of mine. The front of the GSXR arm works better than some b/c it does not widen-out in a short space like some arms do. Basically by the time it goes from the pivot point to the rear axle area it needs to be "so wide" so that the tire/wheel can fit in. Some swingarms start widening at the pivot point junction and on a 'J/GPz' that area of the frame has significant material around it and it interferes with the swingarm b/c it's wide (close to the junction). Gixxer arms gradually widen and (on mock-up) have fit into the frame with ease.
When this project starts I'll post up with pics, knuckle-busts, and cursings.![;) ;)](/media/kunena/emoticons/11.png)

Hey,
I'm also doing the conversion. All I need is a mono shock and some material to make all the mounting points for the shock/ shock linkage. The 750 arm is a bit narrower than the stock arm. You will have to use some washers to set the side to side placement. Also the 750 arm uses a bigger pivot bolt than the Kz but I've found an easy (although not sure about $$) fix. Go to your local Suzuki dealer and purchase the inner races for a 86-88 1100/ 86-87 750 Gixxer. All of these arms use the same pivot bearing but the earlier ones have the same pivot bolt diameter as the KZ. This keeps custom parts to a minimum. I'll let you know any other problems I run into as I move along.
Thanks Doug

OK,thanks for the replies- much appreciated. What is the typical selling price for one of these swingarms? - I told my buddy I'd pay the going rate, but don't know what that is.
I'm going to keep the twin shock set up and have lower mounts fabbed like the GS swingarm conversion deal. Anubody done this rather than the mono conversion?

I paid $20 at a dragrace for mine. Plus another 20 for some homemade (sight unseen
) $25 or $35 for the shock linkage. I'm still looking for a decently priced Busa or Gsxr1000 shock. I was going to pay $50-75 on eBay if the swingarm came with everything (linkage, adjusters, etc.) Hope this helps.
Later, Doug
