As some of you know from all the questions I've been asking here, I'm undertaking building a vintage superbike for AHRMA roadracing. I put together a page on my website with some pics and preliminary information. I'll try to keep it updated with more pics and information as the project progresses.

Check it out:

This Hatman guy seems cool for a Duck rider.

Please keep us posted on you build, and racing. Pictures, and results are much desired by some of us. OK maybe just me, but some of us would love to do this sort of thing before we get too old. B)

Yep...me too! I had the same idea over a year ago and did the same research. Came away with an insane idea for my Z1R and got started. Then the wifey said 'surprise...#2 is on the way'. Wouldn't trade the little guy for the world; and it seems his arrival kept me from jumping too deep...the GPz750R1 is a great idea...and I USED to have one...grrrrrr:angry: Guess I'll hafta race thru osmosis: keep us posted!

As far as getting started racing goes, my best advice to anyone is: Just Do It. Don't wait for the perfect bike, the perfect time, etc. Just find a way to get out on the racetrack. My first bike was an $800 race-ready Honda Ascot. I'd actually recommend against building your dream vintage superbike and then going racing. Buy a cheap race-prepped lightweight bike in one of the "lower impact" classes -- clubman, sportsman, etc. AHRMA has a Novice Production class that is a perfect low-cost, low-impact way to break into racing. Spend a year figuring out the ins and outs of racing then work on building and racing your dream bike.

I currently keep my site updated with racing results, pics, etc., and will continue to do so as I add the Vintage Superbike into the mix.

Yeah, I went to your site and just wanted to tell you that it's great and appreciated! I think your advice is 'spot on'; I've been riding and racing for over 30 yrs and (for a guy with 9 street bikes) have never "officially" raced in a sanctioned race on a road course...just track days, and track days, and track days (good idea, those). Raced almost every other motorcycle format, but the type I like the most I've just never truly done.

Great stuff, though. We'll have to see what the future holds. Again, keep your site current as I really enjoy it.
