2-step with no wheelie bar?? was created by 79MKII
Does anyone use a 2-step rev limiter without a wheelie bar? I have used mine at the strip to launch on the wheelie bars but don't know if it's commonly done with out a bar? I am changing swingarms and won't have the brackets for the wheelie bars and don't know if I should reinstall the 2-step during the rebuild or not. Is it worth it? Opinions??
Thanks

I'm going to six over on the swingarm, up from 4 over. It launched real great on the wheelie bar using the two step. I launched around 7200 RPM's. I definitely don't want to try that without the wheelie bar! I just don't remember ever reading about or hearing about a two step with no wheelie bar...anyone???

i run adrl-400 2-step at the track and on the street and i have never used a wheelie bar. but with the way my bike is set up and geared i dont have to launch no were near as high rpm as you 79mkii. on a nice warm day when the track is sticky i only launch at 4000-4500 rpm. i pull the front wheel to the tree and briefly hitting second if i power shift but the wheel dosnt come up to high to ride out. as far as the stretch in my kz1000 i am only setting at five over stock.

So you are able to hold the throttle wide open and 4000-4500 and then let out the clutch and go? It was no problem doing that with a wheelie bar and slick, but I'm not sure how it would go without that stuff. It makes sense though that a 2 step could be used at a lower rpm without a wheelie bar. It would make the launches much more consistent.

Anyone else use a 2-step and no wheelie bar?

i dont hold it open all the way at the line. i bring it just a little past were the two step kicks in and at the same time i let the clutch go i drop my elbow and hold the throttle wide open till i get a green light...:P ( some times any way)

i dont like holding it all the way open for a long time. if someone is trying to mess with you at the line and takes a long time for him to birng the second stage light up, holding it open like that can cause you to load up the carbs and it will bog of the line some.

if i was to try to launch my bike at 7grand i dont belive i would stand up at all. i would spin the tire so bad i would be picking me and the bike up off the track.

i dont run a slick if i did i would prob. would hook and go at a high rpm. in that case i would run a wheelie bar.
