electronic igntion pickup - ohms at? was created by wickedquick
I strongly suspect a bad ignition pickup on my '79 KZ1000 ST.(No spark to 2-3 cyl, good power to coil, coil good, seems to be the trigger) What should the pickups ohm out at? The front one is infinite resistance.

Anybody want to sell one good pickup?

Measuring each pickup coil (connecting ohmmeter across each pair of wires at the igniter plug) you should see something like 360 - 565 ohms. Figures may vary slightly, my manual covers 81 and up, but something like that.

Measuring between each wire and ground (chassis) you should see infinity (no continuity).

77 KZ 650 B1, 82 GPz 1100 B2.
