High Beam is fine Low Beam is sometimes fine

Crap, my low beam doesn't always want to come on. The high beams are fine, but the low beam sometimes won't turn on when I first start the bike. I ride it a little while on high beam and then I can swith to the low beam just fine. Is it possible the bulb is going or do I have to start tracing wires?

The bulb is fine. I suggest you open your hi/lo beam switchgear and clean the contacts and pull off your headlight and get into the shell. There is a separate wiring harness that connects the headlight to the main harness. Clean the connectors good on both ends and dab some dielectic grease on them with a q-tip. It really sounds like a bad connection more than a wiring problem or bad bulb.

I finally had a chance to work on the switch today. I turned on the lights and... WTF the high beam light is on but the switch is on low? I didn't panic and just opened up the switch and oiled/cleaned it as I was told. I worked the oil into the switch and now my lights are working fine!!

Thanks again!
