hydraulic brake switch not working

Have a bike in my shop that needed some work. Part of it was wiring. The bike's front hydraulic switch has a brown wire (switched 12VDC) and blue (wire has continuity back to tail light - brake light). The brake light doesn't come on when the lever is actuated. The switch must be bad since the bulb is good, there is continuity on the blue wire and there is switched 12VDC at the switch. Has anyone had to replace one of these hydraulic brake switches? Can they be fixed?

Fairly common problem.
Sometimes spraying brakekleen into the switch will flush the crud out and allow it to work again.

I suspect what is being said is that you have to pull the brake hoses off to do this... argh

you can just unscrew the switch,but you will still have to bleed brakes.but atleast you wont have to replace any banjo washers.

Never took one of those switches out. I guess the hex head with the two prongs should have been a hint. I hate brakes!

George, on my bikes, I can feel a little "give" right at the point that the fluid pressure engages the switch when I slowly squeeze the lever. Do you know what I mean? Do you feel that on your bike at all? That would help determine if it's actuating and whether or not it's siezed....

I didn't notice a difference in feel when I pulled the lever but wasn't much thinking about a difference. The problem pretty much has to be in the mechanical part of the switch so I will either get another or see if I can free that one.
