okay,
I tried to bump start but found out that I can only access first gear, not second.

Needless to say, I could not get it started.

Now what?

Were you trying to put it in second gear while the bike was standing still? You have to get the bike moving, then jump on it and pull in the clutch and put it in gear.

I thought if you get a hill (even small incline) you just get her rolling while on it and jamb it into 2nd gear

I did try while rolling. Would not go into second. Do you think I possibly need more speed before trying to get into second?

Probably but I dont know what speed that safety feature lets you do it at.
