Turn signals don’t flash

#924426
On an 82 LTD are the turn signals supposed to flash? Figured they are supposed flash, but mine stay solid. The fronts flash, but the rear signals stay solid and don’t flash. I confirmed the bulbs are correct. Anyone ever come across this? What was the issue or fix? New relay?

Maybe the flasher relay.  Also, if the battery is weak, and your charging system isn't putting out good juice, the flashers won't flash.

Did the rear lights ever flash? If they did flash before...what changes have you made to the bike?
Do your rear bulbs have two filaments or one?
Are any of the bulbs led?
Do the sockets for the rear bulbs have two center contacts inside or one contact inside at the bottom?
Are the rear turn signals on all of the time or just when your switch on the turn signal?

All vehicles turn signals are designed to flash to alert other drivers of your intent to turn or change lanes.

Check your wiring against the diagram (flashers are green and grey) how many wires on your flasher lamps (2 or 3) does your bike have the self cancelling function? Does your bike have hazard warning lights?

10-4 I’ll check all this. Thanks for confirming they are indeed suppose to flash. Didn’t want to start chasing down something that wasn’t broke. I find myself throwing up hand signals too though. Feels natural to do so especially when someone is right there on me.

Yes self canceling but no hazards. So here’s what I got bike came with added accessory lights on the outside mounted to the crash bars. Took them off. Most of the coiled up black cables are left over from those lights. Wasn’t sure where everything was truly plugged into so I just left wires as is under the seat, but rear signals were not flashing from day one but fronts were. Really found a passioin for the mechanical side of the bike, but this electrical stuff oh boy we’re getting there haha. So confusing and this exploded diagram fries even my circuits when I truly try to understand it, which I don’t fully yet just being honest. Still looks like a maze of lines. I work on and fix ebikes regularly, but this is a completely diff animal far as electrical work know how, not a bad thing it’s all just new. Anyway, this is the K1 diagram anyone know if it’s same for K2? I got this from a manual on here someone was so awesome to share and they made it searchable too which is even better and appreciated, but I’ve been up and down it and can’t find the K2 diagram, just the K1. Do you guys see anything in the wiring from these pics that could be causing a signal not to flash or anything I should address at all also? Dirty dusty under there yes. I’m not sure what all of these wires do to be honest and that’s why I haven’t really touched them yet. I know better. Side note I live in an apartment complex so bike stays outside and I keep it covered, but definitely some humidity gets to it underneath the cover. Have no choice but for it to stay outside. Don’t think it’s having more than minor cosmetic issues, most of the rust was there already and hasn’t gotten much worse over past year being outside which I’m happy about. I bought it to ride though so that’s what I’m doing def wish I could keep it inside don’t get me wrong.

I assume what you are saying is that when you operate the switch left or right the issue is apparent ? under normal circumstances it's impossible for the front to flash and the rear illuminate constant which would lead me to believe you have the hardest kind of fault to diagnose (a man made one) electricity follows logic but many owners don't. I will look at this tomorrow but looking at that mess under the seat I think we will be communicating a lot over the coming weeks - whoever did that wiring requires a soldering iron inserting in their back passage  !!!!!!
Does the bike have any electrical "extras" fitted ? just wondering why there is all that trunking and extra wiring under there ?

Yes. In fact, that is the only thing they are supposed to do.

Oh great haha I knew this didn’t look good. Yeah no worries I’m not ready mess with any of it yet anyway until I wrap my head around what’s going on at least, but yes when turn the signal on left or right the front flashes proper while the rear turns on but stays solid doesn’t flash. When I turn it off it turns off like it should. So the rear is working on and off it’s just staying solid no flash while front flashes. Not sure about any of the colored wires, but the black ones with the sleeves lead to the side lights that I removed I just wound up the excess and left it there since seems be soldered somewhere. Can send more pics too if want. Thanks again guys
