Riding with turn signal on
05 May 2026 09:07
If you don't have self canceling turn signals, it happens. I presently have 4 motorcycles and none of them have came equipped with self canceling signals. I have been expermenting with fixes and now all 4 bikes I own have different solutions.
KL600 Eliminator. Using two small springs and foam pads, converted the turn signal switch to momentary contact. this requires keeping the switch pressed, which can be difficult while manovering.
KZ305. Installed a Badlands canceling unit. Also requires converting turn signal switch to momentary contact. Signals stay on for 21 seconds, non-adjustable. $100.00
KE100 Replaced flasher with a a beeping flasher unit. I could only find these beeping flashers in 2 pin units. Wind and engine noise make it hard to hear above 40mph. Sounds like a dump truck backing up. $10.00
TC185 Using two diods, wired a constant tone buzzer to left and right turn signals. People around me still looking for that dump truck.$10.00
I would be interested in other fixes for this issue.

I never really worried about it.
I usually remember to turn off my signals. but have been caught a few times not turning one off.
A riding buddy is notorious for forgetting to turn his off.
In the City I can see this being more of an issue.
I'm mostly in the Country with no one around.

I'm usually pretty good about remembering to shut off the turn signals, but every once in a while I have one of those d'oh! moments...

If one is Ridin' behind another Rider, and sees the Rider in front drop the left hand and rhythmically open and close that hand into a fist, it's an indication your turn signal os ON.
