So far as I can find, the only difference between the ES and EV is that the EV has a thin platinum electrode, while the ES has a wide nickel electrode. They should work just fine as long as they have the screw off cap.

Ev's have a thin electrode compared to es's.
Ev's are designed to run at constant high rpm and are likely to continually foul on a road vehicle.

I’ve always used B8ES in my triumps and BSAs but alas they are scarce and being hoarded/ faked. A friend turned me on to NGK Iridium BR8EIX. They are more expensive but much better. My old bikes are first-kick with these. I will use them in my Z1 when I ever finish it.

Are you and I having the same conversation or are you talking to people who aren't there again? Why is always the oddest exchange when you start posting? Like I told you I didn't build the engine.
I thought I had dumbed down my reply, obviously not enough. 🤷

As Ed noted, these NGK B8ES's have been discontinued in favor of the resistor plugs at least two yrs ago, maybe more. An alternative, same plug, is to find Honda part# 98079-58840. Making sure they come in their original Red Honda little individual boxes. China didn't fake those. I buy them up in bulk from old local shops or ebay when i can find them. I wouldn't waste my time on Amazon, never know what you'll get. Either way if you live in the sticks like i do you're going to have to have them shipped to you regardless.

Don't forget you will also need "non-resistor" caps

The reason they are hard to find is because they have been discontinued.  There are several threads here about this situation.

ND W24ES or W24ES-U are just as good, and easier to find these days.  Just be sure to get the type with the threaded top cap, assuming you are using OEM type plug caps.

The ND's seem to be cheaper as well, I got some at a automotive parts place that was practically giving them away.

I have a bag full of lightly used NGK's both B7ES and B8ES (maybe 40 in there) that were taken off used engines so when I need any I just clean them with a propane torch and check the straps.

I found an old motorcycle shop down the road that had two boxes of old stock.
