I need help. Its M Lee S. I have a 79 650 SR. It ran fine last night. Lights and all. A pinched wire near the tank caused my main fuse to blow, killing my headlight, I located the prob, fixed that, Everything ran great. This morning It started right up, I pulled out of the driveway and it died as if some thing disconnected, So I started it back up. no prob, went to release the cluch and it died, now the light s work, everthing else works, signals etc. it just wont start when I push the start button WHAT IS IT!! I NEED HELP ASAP.

Man... this is one of those hard ones to answer... you kinda just have to re-trace all the wires. Sounds like something has a bullet connector barely touching somewhere...

Sounds like you kerfletched something in the harness. Check all conections. Did it stop when you were turning the forks? Check the connections in the area you were working in then spread the search from there.

Umm, try checking for a disconnected vacuum feed from the carburetor to the fuel petcock. No gas, no go.

the connections you fixed and loosened others

check again

these switches and connections stop the starter button only
side stand sw
neutral sw
clutch sw

or the solenoid and dirty start button connection

did it rain recently? water in the harness jacket is a bugger
