Removing the advancer weights/plate

So, one of the pickups on the DYNA S which has worked perfectly on my '80 Z1R for the last 12 years has bitten the dust.  I ordered a new Dyna S, which looks slightly different
than the old/current one.  Here's probably an ignorant question- how do you remove the 13mm bolt holding the advancer mechanism in, in order to install the new rotor?   The bolt used to turn the
crank is 17mm and pretty thin so putting a wrench on it to hold the crank while loosening the 13mm end bolt doesn't leave enuf room  for a wrench to bite.  Wish I could remember
what I did last time!  There are some vids on line but the ones I watched don't show removal of the bolt...

sorry abt that & thanks in advance-

bill

Either slim down a 17mm spanner so that it doesn't stick out further than the nut or use a 3/8ths 13mm socket that should fit inside the 17mm spanner.
Either that or just fit a 13mm ring spanner and give it a couple of sharp taps with a mallet which is what i do..
It should shift before the crank does.

Thanks, Zed-

Wondered if those were about the only choices.  Will do-

Hope the rest of the week goes well!

If you have the stock tool kit those wrenches are thin enough to allow a 13mm socket

Thanks, Cra-Z1.

I do have it but wish I could remember where I stashed it.  It SHOULD be put back in the bike.  It was pulled when I replaced the old glass fuse
box with something a little more modern (pictured).  The relay below and to the left powers the Dyna S instead of powering it thru the kill
switch.

Place tranny in 1st. gear.  Apply rear brake.  Crank can't rotate.

Just came in from test riding and saw this one. Thanks for responding.   A few light taps on a box wrench end loosened it much easier than expected.
Changed the oil & filter and did a short 5 or 6 mile ride.  Seems to be ok again-

thanks to everyone who replied & hope the rest of the week goes well!
cheers,
