'77-78 KZ 650 spark plugs are driving me to drink more beers!
12 May 2025 14:31
My Uncle gave me this bike. It has NGK B7ES spark plugs in it. Evidently, NGK now only makes BR-7ES. What difference does the R make, and are there any other brand options?
Thanks in advance!
Alex.

If you check the factory service manual for your bike, you will learn that ND W22ES or W22ES-U plugs are recommended.

The R in the nomenclature indicates a resistor plug. You can use them, but you would need to be sure that the bike does not have resistor wires or resistor caps.
At some point, Kawasaki started using resistor caps on the sparkplug wires, so non-resistor plugs would be appropriate.

my uncle put dyna coil ignition coils in the bike, with modern wires or ones that usually come with the dynacoil kit. Im going to switch over from NGK to the Denso spark plugs.

Keep in mind that there should not be more than one resistor component between the coil and the combustion chamber. Wire OR cap OR plug OR none.
