I am probably becoming a pain in the seat!

Hi All
I have gotten the bike back together. lights, horn, turn signals and emergency flashers all work now, but. When I hit the starter button, nothing. So I went to the diagram and started checking wires. Now I am so confused. As you have figured out by now, I am no brain surgeon. Now if I am reading this correctly, white to white/black -  orange to orange/green - Black to yellow/red. what black wire are they talking about?

Should that say Brown rather than Black? Doesn't the brown wire feed the taillight?

Thank you for the replies! The bike is a 81 kZ1000 LTD, and the brown wire seems to be a common source through out the bike.  I will check the brown to yellow/red when I can get down there.

Typically Kawasaki Solid black insulation will be starter, Brown "fused" Positive. Check Your clutch safety switch leads..

I checked the brown to yellow/red and nothing. I pulled the ignition switch out and disassembled it to find spider webs and corrosion. Cleanded it up and its working fine now. But still not turning the starter over. The clutch switch is checking good. I am starting to think I am missing a ground somewhere.

DHOO!
Thanks for all the help! After repairing the ignition switch, I forgot to plug in the start/stop connector. She is turning over now. Thanks again!

Just as an FYI - on these later bikes the brown is an "input" to the ignition switch from the fuse-box to supply the kill switch and starter (the older bikes have brown as the main "output" from the ignition)

Thank you Wookie58. Got that out of the way, started building a 4-1 exhaust. I want to get this old girl ready for paint this summer.
