What electrical components should be fused?
Here's what I know so far:
Regulator Rectifier:
- 5A for sense wire (brown)
- 25-30A for constant 12V supply (red/white)
IC igniter:
- Should the Switched 12V supply to the IC igniter be fused and what amp if so?
Ignition coils:
-Should the switched 12V supply to the coils be fused and what amp if so?
Controls:
I will be going with an aftermarket set of controls from Speed Moto Co.
-Kill Switch? (On/off to cut 12V to the coils)
-Starter button?
Ill worry about lights, horn, and turn signals when I get that far
Please add anything I missed!
Additionally, I plan to wire the bikes ignition system, recharging system, and the lighting system, as their respective sub harness to make things easier for me. So let's say the with the key on it feeds power to the on/off kill switch control, with the kill switch closed, 12v will then travel to the coils and IC Ignitor. Now say the coils should have a fuse of X amps and the coils should have a fuse of Y amps. Would a "main circuit fuse" of X + Y amps suffice? Or is it more practical to have X amp fuse for the wire going to the coils and another Y amp fuse for the wires going to the igniter?
thanks!
