Neutral light KZ650b1

Hi all, anyone had any issues with the neutral light being intermittent? I have replaced the switch and the connections are good, sometimes it lights when putting into neutral and other times you have to keep moving the gear lever up and down for it to work?
Hope this makes sense,
Rich.

It could be a little to thick washer gasket under the neutral switch.
So the spring movement/travel of the brass contact pin sometimes can not fully close the electrical circuit to the engine ground.

I had / have  the same on the kz900. First time i found a lose switch and also starting to leak so i tightened the switch. Then after a few weeks the neutral light strted to flicker again and the switch was coming lose again ! . Then i tightened it more but now i flickers even with the switch not lose. Maybe the thick gasket theory is right.

Have you checked or replaced the bulb in the dash? +40 year old bulb... I have seen some of those tiny bulbs break in half just from corrosion.

Also check the wires to the bulb socket, they can sometimes get pinched back there as its tight under that rear cover.

The washer theory could be the ticket 👍I will try that and see what happens. The bulbs and sockets are all new as the rubber sockets were totally rotted so bought a new loom for the gauges. The flickering was present with the old switch, so that it why I replaced it, so will work through and test the power and earthing to it 👍
Thanks,
Rich.

Just use an ohm meter or test light at the switch in transcover first and follow it up wiring wise. Ground the 90deg terminal to ground on engine manually first. Very well could be the Stanley bulb went amuck as Injected noted too.

Hi all, so tested the wire to ground, light operated so tightened up the switch more, and operates perfectly. Just shows that the washer was probably too thick.
Thank you everyone 👍

The thick washer theory was the key, gave the switch a couple more tweaks to tighten and now works great 👍
