Rectifier/regulator KZ400 - 5 wires vs 4 wires

Hello,
Apologies to dig up this old thread but I am working through a related issue.
I am rewiring a KZ200A from scratch and I've run into an issue with the 4-pin/5-pin compatibility.
The RR I have is a 4-wire, 3-pin plug with an external hot red/white wire which attaches to the starter relay. The OEM harness I bought has a 5-pin plug (yellow, yellow, black, brown and white).
Would the best bet be to convert the harness connection to a three plug and cutting sealing off the brown and white wires?
