That is exactly it   it sometimes helps to think of "voltage" as "pressure" so checking "system pressure" is done on a complete and functioning system

I think of voltage as energy potential.  An analagous situation would be the height of a waterfall.  Higher height means more potential energy at the top of the fall compared tot the bottom.  I think of current as flow.  The analagous situation would be river flow.  More flow means more current.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
