Not sure if this is the right category… 

in any case; I’m doing a light restoration of my clocks, but the rubber “ribbed” part is desintegrating whenever you touch it. Seems to be not available anywhere. Can someone point me at a source or an alternative?

Seems like somebody around here once used an automotive windshield wiper blade cut to length and the ends glued together. 
1982 KZ1000 LTD parts donor
