Ignition Switch Harness Swap
07 Apr 2023 06:04 - 07 Apr 2023 06:08
Hi, I have a 1985 Kawasaki GPZ 750 Turbo. The previous owner had three different keys (one for ignition, one for the helmet/seat locks, and one for the gas tank). I am missing one of the helmet locks and for bragging rights, I'd like to have an original GPZ key. I currently have a mix of hardware store specials.
I was browsing fleabay and saw this listing tinyurl.com/nhcf4ns2
The GPZ Turbo harness coming out of the current switch has six plugs and the one linked has five. Is it possible to swap my current harness from the tubro to the linked barrel and assembly? I get different part numbers for all the items, but the remaining locks in the link look identical. The only difference I can find between the two is the plug coming out of the harness. Was thinking it is more economical to swap them then to go through picking up a new helmet lock, key, and rekeying the existing lock.

Thank you! This is very helpful! I am new to turbos and usually active on the turbo forum.
I see you have a couple turbos, any chance you have a spare bracket for the left rear helmet lock ( 32074-1059 ) and Pilot dash (warning light cluster case 14025-1693)?

Great, if you can find it, I'd love to buy it!
I plan on posting a write-up with lots of photos in the projects section, its a bit hacked up but that's what I wanted.
I'm in NYC, so I'd love to come up and go for a ride! It would be real cool to meet other enthusiasts in person. Warm weather should be here next week
