Can someone identify this transistor and have a source where I could order a couple. I'm going to try to repair an igniter box.

For future reference.  What igniter & motorcycle is it? Thanks.

In case it's any help.  Here's a link w some info for a Yamaha but he didn't actually do or complete the repair.

Its an igniter off an 85 VT500c.
I found 1 US supplier, Newegg. They want $45.99 for 2.
Soon we will need a wheelborrow of money for a loaf of bread.

Check on Amazon. I'm a buyer at my company and just purchased these for a little IT project. 11 bucks for 1,000 various transistors. You should be able to find what you need there, but how good the quality is will not be known. All China stuff these days.

Try Mouser or Digi-Key for individual components:

www.mouser.com/

www.digikey.com/

Amazon (or eBay) will almost certainly be the cheapest; the other places can be pricey for small quantities.

Or there is an igniter for an '83 VT500 on eBay for about $48 shipped: https://www.[ebay].com/itm/334290106376

I already checked Mouser and Digikey.  They don't have it.

eBay is the only place I could find this particular component.

Searching the web shows that Yamaha Vision also uses this component in it's ignitor box.  It's a small world with usage of these particular parts.

It would have to be an 85 or 86 box. Unfortunatly, they are few and pricey. The pre 85s used a seperate igniter box for each cylinder.
I may just order the transistors from China and hope for the best.

Here's a topic from the Digi-Key Tech forums. Finding a replacement transistor (2SD1071) for a 90s motorcycle igniter:
forum.digikey.com/t/finding-a-replacement-transistor/26008

Two alternate part numbers mentioned:  MJE5742G or BU941.
MJE5742G doesn't have a zener diode, so you'd need to install that separately.

Also, on a Gixxer forum one guy just replaced the capacitors & cleaned up or resoldered some of the connections and removed some of the melted gunk which can be conductive.  And that guy or another gixxer guy replaced some of the resistors w brass rod.  If interested, I saved the links.
