Ok so I have a 79 400H1. Still runs on points. On the left side, I have the starter solenoid and the regulator-rectifier. On the right side I have three things: one that is obviously the flasher on the very back, one in the middle that is very clearly labeled "fuse box" (or "fuse panel"), and one on the very front with what looks like a four wire connector. No markings, no labels...I can't even find it in the parts diagrams on Partzilla!

Would this be the box I change out to switch to CDI? If not, what is it? I don't have a picture now but can take in the morning if need be.

What colour are the wires going to it (I think it may be a brake light failure unit)

Definitely not.  A motorcycle with points doesn't have any ignition related black boxes.  The points connect directly to the ignition coil.  Other than points and coils, there are no other electrical parts.

If you were to change to electronic ignition, you might need to add a box somewhere.  This was true with the old Dyna III system.

The only thing I could see on the diagram was the brake light failure unit
