Looking for both LH & RH handlebar switch housings for my 1983 KZ1000 J3. Mine currently works but they're faded and the writings are erased.
LH: 46091-1180 (said to fit on J1, J2, J3 R1, R2 B1, B2)
RH: 46091-1238 (said to fit on J1, J2, J3 R1, R2)
I looked on all the websites I know to sell parts opr reproductions but did not find any. There are quite some for 1977-1980 KZ1000 but nothing for 1981+.
Anyone knows where I could find those?
Thanks!

Do they look like these? I restored these for my 750, combining a couple different sets with the best parts. I searched ebay until I found housings with clean lettering, then I cleaned and swapped around the guts. It sounds like all you need is the housing, so you might be able to expand your search since several different KZ bikes used the same controls other than harness length.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration
ebay item 234260496410 looks like a pretty nice RH side control
273972402955 for a LH jobby. Not the best, but I've seen way worse.
Another option is to make some stencils for the lettering.

Nessism, very interesting posts of yours. I looked (unsuccessfully) at Ebay but only for the correct p/n.
I already have a LH unit but wiring is different (3 connectors instead of 2 and harness about 4 inches longer). I thought at trying to use it but swapping the inners is possibly a better idea. I’ll give this a look for sure.
The RH unit you posted is interesting.
Many thanks !!

If the housings are a little chalky looking in places, you can buff them up using scotchbrite and/or a soft wire wheel in a dremel. Obviously, stay clear of the lettering. For the insides, I use dielectric grease to lube up the contacts.
