Guys,
I need your help again. I have about finished up the updates on my wife's GPz except that I need a cable.

Follow me now... The speedo is a Kawasaki ZN700 something or other made in the middle 80's. easy enough.
The front wheel & drive is from another mid 80's GPz 750.
Obviously the 2 never existed naturally in the wild. Is it just a matter of finding the right length cable, because all the tops and bottoms are the same? Or is it more complicated than that?

Oh... Picture to attract interest...

Looks Like you now have an 18 inch front wheel ?    Why not use the later GPZ gauges that match the wheels, they look quite good on the early GPZ's . I'm using an 18 inch front oj my project and have a set of the later GPZ gauges, they aren't fitted yet but they look good mocked up..
Edit, that speedo is an aftermarket speed hut gauge, the Stock GPZ gauge is set up for 18 inch wheels...

Well, to be quite honest... I'm a better electrician than fabricator. The gauges were a "bolt-on" situation and it only took a little fiddling with wires & connectors to make them work.

Yup. 18" front wheel. (cuz 80's Superbikes should be 18 front & rear ) My wife won't care if the speedo is off a little bit. She would be happy with a "ball park" number.

For speedometer accuracy you'll probably want to use a stock size tire for the stock 18" wheel (probably 110/90).
The ZN700 came stock w an 18" Fr wheel and had the same speedometer gear & pinion gear as many other earlier models, including the 750 GPz (both 18" & 19" Fr wheel).  The models I looked at w 18" Fr wheel had a 110/90 tire while the 19" were 100/90. The tire size is one way Kawasaki adjusted for the speedo accuracy >> smaller wheel w large circumference tire.  I've done the math on a number of wheel/tire combos.

Guys,
I think you're missing it. I am all assembled EXCEPT the cable. The OEM cable on the GPz was a silly 3 wire electronic device and long ago ditched. I need a speedo cable that will connect the ZN speedometer to the GPz wheel/speedo drive.

Are all the Kawasaki speedo cables the same except for length, color etc? Just pick a black one 28" long for example? Or do I need to go to Motion-Pro for a custom unit? I'm not opposed to that either. I did it for my GS1100es

Go to evilbay and buy used speedo cables for each, current drive and speedo. It will give you the termination type at each end. Might help.
