Still using my old1978 flat face Hella housing, I tried the simple H4 LED bulb swap, didn't do much other than change color

The description says the high beam is "6500Lms@108W". If that light actually draws 108W, that's probably too much for the generator, harness, or connectors.
The typical H4 is 55 or 60w I think.
I'd be worried that you might melt something.
